Description

When Guardami was shown at the Venice Film Festival it was sabled down by most critics because of the explicit scenes. But this is a very good, even sweet movie based upon the life of Moana Pozzi, the Italian prnstar who died of cancer. The part is portrayed in an astonishing, daring way by Italian mainstream actress Elisabetta Cavallotti, who never acted in sexy movies before Guardami. She even started out as a Shakespeare actress in many stage plays. The way she portrays Nina shows a lot of courage. The movie shows the relationship between the prnstar and a regular guy, who is also a cancer patient. It's such a pity the critics aim only at the few graphic scenes, because this is a quality movie. The best mainstream movie about the prnindustry is of course Boogie Nights, but this one might come in second place.... Nina is a prngraphic actress for her own choice but her life changes completely when she discovers that she has a serious kind of cancer. During a chemotherapy sitting she meets another sick man, Flavio (Flavio Insinna), who has been diagnosed a cancer with 70% possibility of recovering. Between the two sick people, fighting every day against the same unhappy destiny begins a friendship. Flavio is a teacher at the secondary school who, after discovering that he has a cancer, lives in the terror of death. He feels lonely because his girl-friend left him when she knew he was ill, but during his first chemotherapy sitting he meets Nina, who is able to joke even in the worst moments and, by her side, he fights for his own life. When she tells him that she is a prngraphic actress he is surprised and disappointed but the love he now feels for Nina is stronger than his prejudices that soon turns into love, but that is also threatened by a danger which could ruin everything at any moment...
